Leadership is not defined by a title — it is defined by a lifetime of service.
As District Governor, Lion Steve embodies the very heart of Lionism: commitment, integrity, and servant leadership.
Since joining the Fair Grove Lions Club in 1981, Lion Steve has dedicated more than four decades to strengthening his club, his district, and his community. His journey through Lionism reflects both depth and devotion — serving six terms as Club President, along with roles as Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President, and Lion Tamer. His fellow Lions have honored him four times as Lion of the Year — a testament to the respect he has earned.
At the district level, his leadership record is equally remarkable. Lion Steve has served as Sight and Hearing Chair, Membership Chair, Zone Chair (twice), Brighter Vision Chair, and has achieved both 100% President and 100% Secretary honors. His dedication has been recognized with the Gary Steele Outstanding Zone Chair Award, the Jack Stickley Award, the prestigious Melvin Jones Fellowship, and the NC Lions Ambassador Award. In 2023, he continued investing in leadership growth by attending the Regional Lions Leadership Institute.
Beyond Lionism, District Governor Steve is an accomplished educator, entrepreneur, and community advocate. A graduate of NC State University with degrees in Animal Science and Agricultural Education, he taught and coached at Ledford High School for 15 years, leading teams to multiple state championships and the first-ever National Hunter Safety Shooting Tournament national championship in 1985.
In 1987, he founded Cline’s Greenhouse, Nursery & Landscaping in Thomasville — a business that continues to thrive and serve the community today. He is a lifetime member of Fair Grove Methodist Church, where he served 15 years as Sunday School Superintendent, and he is a past president of the Thomasville Farmers Market.
What makes Lion Steve’s Governorship especially meaningful is not just his experience — it is his steady, servant heart. He leads by example. He mentors. He listens. He builds unity. And he reminds us that Lionism is strongest when leadership is rooted in humility and service.
With his partner in Lionism and life, Lion Pam Britt, by his side, District Governor Steve continues to inspire the next generation of Lions.
Please join us in celebrating a leader whose life truly reflects our motto:
We Serve.
Steve has 2 daughters, 4 granddaughters and his cat Rosco.

Some Lions are known for their leadership.
Some are known for their service.
And some are known for their heart.
Second Vice District Governor Lion Chris Beck is known for all three.
Lion Chris began his Lions journey in 1987 when he joined the Franklin-Ellis Lions Club, proudly sponsored by his father, Lion Don Beck. Since that day, he has exemplified what it means to carry forward both a family legacy and a lifelong commitment to service.
For decades, District Governors have consistently called upon Lion Chris to serve on committees and assist with district initiatives — a reflection of the trust, reliability, and leadership he brings to every role. His dedication to Organ and Tissue Procurement is especially remarkable. Serving 21 years as District Organ/Tissue Procurement Chair and also as State Organ/Tissue Procurement Chair, his advocacy has impacted countless lives. His commitment is not only professional — it is deeply personal. Lion Chris selflessly donated a kidney to his brother, demonstrating that his belief in saving lives goes far beyond words.
Between the Franklin-Ellis and Cleveland Lions Clubs, Lion Chris has served as Club President five times and as Secretary/Treasurer for ten years. He has also served twice as District Zone Chair and has been honored as Lion of the Year on two occasions. He holds a North Carolina Lions Foundation lifetime membership and has received numerous awards, including two International Presidential Certificates of Appreciation.
Yet beyond the titles and honors, Lion Chris is perhaps best known for two defining traits: his enormous heart and his unforgettable sense of humor. His ability to bring laughter, unity, and energy to district conventions has made him an integral part of their success year after year.
Service for Lion Chris extends well beyond Lionism. He has coached Pee-Wee baseball for seven years, Little League baseball for eight years, and umpired Little League for fifteen years. He also served 11 years as a West Rowan High School band booster. At Kannapolis Church of God, he serves as an Elder and Sunday School teacher, working with youth for more than 35 years — a dedication so meaningful that a room in the church’s Family Life Center is dedicated in his honor.
At home, Lion Chris is a proud father to four sons — Matthew, Joshua, Michael, and Jacob — three of whom are triplets — and a proud grandfather.
Second Vice District Governor Chris Beck reminds us that leadership is strongest when it is rooted in compassion, consistency, and a willingness to serve wherever needed. His life is a living example of our Lions motto:
We Serve.
